Mercedes-Benz S 500 4MATIC (2026 Facelift) The major 2026 update, presented as part of the brand's 140th anniversary, affected more than 2,700 components of the flagship sedan.

The restyling focuses on a thorough modernization of the inline six-cylinder engine and the transition to the new MB.OS digital architecture.

The S 500 model remains the benchmark for balance between technology and classic dynamics, offering improved efficiency without weighing down the design with massive batteries.

Engine The powertrain is based on a thoroughly modernized 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine (M256 Evo).

By optimizing the injection and turbocharging systems, power has been increased to 442 hp (330 kW) and torque to 560 Nm (with the possibility of a short-term increase in overboost mode).

The engine works in conjunction with a 48-volt mild hybrid (Mild Hybrid), where an integrated starter generator (ISG) ensures seamless Start-Stop operation and additional traction during intense acceleration.Transmission and dynamics The engine is paired with a nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission with updated software.

The 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system, combined with increased power, allows the sedan to accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.5–4.8 seconds (depending on the wheelbase length).

The top speed is traditionally limited electronically to 250 km/h.

To improve maneuverability, a fully controllable chassis with active rear-wheel steering is now included as standard equipment.

Exterior and aerodynamics Exterior changes include a new radiator grille and DIGITAL LIGHT lighting technology, where the running lights are designed as three-pointed stars.

The rear lights also feature a "star" graphic design.

Aerodynamics have been optimized to reduce noise (the $C_d$ coefficient is only 0.22), and the AIRMATIC adaptive air suspension now uses navigation system data to preemptively adjust stiffness before hitting bumps.Interior The main innovation in the cabin is the transition to MBUX Superscreen.

A single glass surface combines the central display and the front passenger screen, running on the MB.OS operating system.

The interior features new eco-friendly materials and exclusive veneer from the MANUFAKTUR line.

Innovative heated seat belts and an updated air filtration system with fine particle sensors have been added to the list of options.
