Mercedes ramps up Little G testing ahead of 2027 arrival
Mercedes-Benz has stepped up winter testing of its internally named 'Little G', a junior member of the G-Class family, with fresh spy photos showing a heavily camouflaged prototype running near the Arctic Circle.
The report says engineers are developing a bespoke, ladder-frame‑inspired architecture and plan to offer both combustion and electric powertrain options.
Company sources quoted in the article emphasise a high degree of unique parts to preserve G character while lowering vehicle size and cost.
Analysts view the programme as a strategic move to broaden the G range, impact competitor planning and shift Mercedes’ volume mix toward more lifestyle-oriented high-margin SUVs.
