Production Skytop shows M8-based targa entering final inspection
BMW has released images showing a production Skytop targa derived from the M8 undergoing final inspection ahead of customer deliveries.
Built in a 50‑unit run, the Skytop uses an M8-based architecture and the highest state of tune for BMW’s twin‑turbo V8, and is expected to be hand-finished for each buyer.
The development matters because it keeps BMW’s V8 performance hardware visible as the brand transitions to newer powertrains, and because low volumes and bespoke fitments will make these cars highly sought-after by collectors.
Deliveries and registration are expected later this year.
BMW says customers will be offered extensive individualization choices, which may further limit comparability across the small run.
