Mercedes recalls select CLE and AMG models over emergency stop software
Mercedes‑Benz issued a recall covering select CLE, AMG CLE and AMG C‑Class models after identifying a software defect in the Emergency Stop Assist system that can prevent automatic activation when a driver is unresponsive.
The company says dealers will update onboard software for the affected vehicles, which include a limited number of 2024–2025 model-year units.
The manufacturer and regulators are notifying owners and scheduling the corrective update.
The recall underscores ongoing safety risks from advanced driver assistance software failures and could prompt scrutiny of validation procedures, dealer workload, and short-term owner inconvenience while fixes are applied.
