Lexus reportedly planning single hybrid coupe to replace RC and LC
Japanese outlet Best Car and reporting by Yahoo Autos on Feb. 19, 2026 say Lexus is preparing a single hybrid coupe to replace both the RC and LC.
The proposal would pair Lexus with Toyota GR engineering and could share the next-generation GR Supra platform.
The model is said to be targeted for a 2027 debut as a flagship 2+2 hybrid coupe, consolidating two separate two-door lines into one product.
That matters because it would reduce overlapping inventory, change dealer ordering and pricing strategies, and concentrate Lexus’s investment in hybrid performance.
Who is involved: Lexus, Toyota’s Gazoo Racing engineering, and Best Car as the reported source.
Why it matters: the consolidation could speed development, lower unit costs, and shift the coupe market toward hybridized architectures.
Lexus has not confirmed details; timing and specifications remain unverified.
