GM recall affects 2022 Escalade models over transmission control valve
General Motors has issued a safety recall for more than 43,700 full‑size SUVs, naming 2022 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV among the affected vehicles after regulators warned that a transmission control valve may wear and, in rare cases, allow the rear wheels to lock.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and GM are coordinating the campaign.
Dealers will install updated transmission‑control‑module software at no cost to detect valve wear, restrict the transmission to fifth gear if critical wear is found, and display driver warnings.
Owners will receive notification letters beginning March 30 and can check VIN status with NHTSA.
Why it matters: sudden rear‑wheel lock‑up increases crash risk; the software fix is an immediate mitigation while GM assesses longer‑term repairs and monitors field data.
