Cayenne posts 7m38s Nordschleife time in camouflaged test car
A camouflaged Porsche Cayenne, fitted with racing seat and roll cage, completed a 7 minute 38 second lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a private test session, a time later certified by a notary and presented as an SUV category record on Feb. 16, 2026. Porsche says the notary confirmed the car’s series-production weight and status despite visible race-spec safety equipment.
The test was held ahead of the model’s imminent world premiere.
The development raises questions about the transparency of lap-record claims and the definition of “production specification.”
If the car differs from customer-available models, the certified time could provoke scrutiny of record-keeping and marketing claims, and may prompt renewed calls for clearer scrutineering standards at the track.
