BMW M plans 30 new or updated M models in 30 months
BMW M boss Frank van Meel told press the division will roll out roughly 30 new or refreshed M and M Performance models over the next 30 months, covering internal‑combustion, plug‑in hybrid and pure‑electric drivetrains.
Van Meel specifically referenced next‑generation X5 and X6 derivatives and M versions of the i7 as part of the program, and warned the manual gearbox is likely to be phased out for engineering reasons.
The commitment forces a rapid product cadence through 2029, affects supplier schedules and dealer stocking, and signals that high‑power V8s, hybrids and EVMs will expand BMW’s performance lineup across global markets.
