Audi unveils a plug-in hybrid RS5 as a new high-performance model
Audi revealed a new RS5 on February 22, 2026, introducing the brand’s first full plug-in-hybrid RS model that pairs a revised 2.9‑liter twin‑turbo V6 with an electric drive unit and a substantial battery pack.
Audi’s product team says combined output approaches the 600‑plus horsepower band and that the car will be offered in Avant (estate) and limousine/fastback body styles.
The move shifts Audi Sport toward electrified performance and changes packaging and mass distribution for top RS models.
For buyers and dealers it matters because the hybrid RS trades pure weight and complexity for stronger combined power and partial electric range, affecting pricing, fuel use, and market positioning; U.S. availability appears limited, meaning regional demand and model mix will influence Audi’s rollout and resale dynamics.
