Audi makes 2026 F1 debut at Australia
At the Melbourne season opener on March 6, 2026, Audi made its first Formula 1 race appearance and publicly revealed the new Audi RS5 at Albert Park.
The Audi Revolut F1 Team, represented by drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto, presented the road-going RS5 while the works cars completed initial track running.
Audi described the RS5 as featuring a hybrid drive, linking the brand’s motorsport effort and production strategy.
This matters because Audi Sport is explicitly moving its performance models toward electrified powertrains, which could speed technology transfer from F1 to road cars, reshape future RS powertrains, and influence buyer expectations and regulatory compliance across Audi’s high-performance line.
Observers should expect the announcement to affect marketing, engineering priorities, and competitor responses in the electrified performance segment.
