Mercedes-Benz S 580 4MATIC (2026 Facelift) A major update to the flagship sedan (W223), timed to coincide with the brand's 140th anniversary.

As part of the 2026 restyling, engineers revised more than 2,700 components, focusing on radically improving the performance of the traditional internal combustion engine.

The S 580 remains the choice of conservative customers, offering increased power and new digital architecture without the need for external charging.

Engine The main change was the transition to a modernized 4.0-liter V8 biturbo (M177 Evo) with a flat-plane crankshaft.

This technical solution made it possible to significantly lighten the crank-and-connecting rod mechanism, providing the engine with instant response and a different acoustic picture.

The power of the unit is 537 hp, and the torque reaches 750 Nm.

To optimize the operation of auxiliary systems, only a compact 48-volt superstructure (mild hybrid) is used, which does not affect the nature of traction control.

Transmission and dynamics The V8 is paired with a retuned 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission.

The 4MATIC intelligent all-wheel drive system ensures efficient torque delivery, allowing the sedan to accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.9-4.1 seconds.

The restyled version comes standard with a fully controllable chassis, which improves stability during high-speed maneuvers by steering the rear wheels up to 4.5 degrees.

Exterior and aerodynamics The exterior of the 2026 model stands out with its enlarged radiator grille with chrome slats and new matrix optics.

A distinctive feature is the three-pointed star-shaped light elements integrated into both the headlights and taillights.

The body has been further optimized in a wind tunnel to reduce drag, and the updated AIRMATIC air suspension now reacts preventively to road irregularities using data from front cameras.

Interior The interior features MBUX Superscreen digital architecture, which combines the instrument panel, center display, and front passenger screen under a single glass panel.

The system runs on the new MB.OS operating system, which provides performance on par with modern gaming stations.

The interior features new types of veneer and the highest quality leather, and heated seat belts and an intelligent air quality control system have been added to the list of standard equipment.
