2025 Aston-Martin Vanquish
The return of the Vanquish name to the Aston Martin hierarchy is not just a marketing reshuffle, but a statement about preserving the old world order. In an era when the industry is obsessed with hybridization and downsizing, the new flagship from Gaydon stands as a monumental manifesto of classic car manufacturing. This is not a track scalpel like the 911 GT3, nor is it a refined capsule of isolation like the Rolls-Royce Spectre. Before us is the ultimate Super GT — a car built to devour continents with frightening speed and impeccable elegance. It occupies that rare niche where brute physical power meets aristocratic refinement, contrasting itself with perhaps only the Ferrari 12Cilindri, but offering a much more restrained, "British" aggression. At the heart of this engineering masterpiece is an engine whose very existence in 2026 seems miraculous. Hidden under the long hood is a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 that has undergone such extensive modernization that it can be considered practically a new unit. Engineers reinforced the cylinder block, changed the camshaft profiles, and installed new turbochargers with reduced inertia. The result is awe-inspiring: 835 horsepower and a colossal 1,000 Nm of torque. But dry figures do not convey its character. Thanks to Boost Reserve technology, which maintains boost pressure even under partial loads, the response to the accelerator is instantaneous, without the typical turbo lag. The exhaust note is not a hysterical squeal, but a rich, full-bodied baritone that builds to a crescendo that can be felt throughout the body. This orchestra works in tandem with a recalibrated 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, located in a transaxle configuration for ideal weight distribution. The gearbox shifts with the relentless but smooth determination that is characteristic of only the best representatives of the GT class. On the road, the Vanquish demonstrates a duality that is surprising for its size. On the one hand, there is the chassis, built around a rigid aluminum monocoque, extended by 80 mm between the axles compared to its predecessor, the DBS. On the other, it has an advanced suspension with Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers capable of changing their characteristics in milliseconds. In GT mode, the car smooths out the road surface, creating the feeling of flying over the road, but switch to Sport mode and it becomes a single, tight mechanism. The electronic limited-slip differential (e-diff) on the rear axle surgically doses traction, allowing the heavy coupe to screw into corners with a grace that defies the laws of physics. Braking dynamics are provided by carbon-ceramic discs (410 mm at the front), which are tireless and provide linear deceleration from any speed. Visually, the 2026 Vanquish is a triumph of function over decoration. Its proportions are classic: an endless hood, a rearward-shifted cabin, and wide "hips" on the rear arches. However, the main dominant feature of the design is the rear end, executed in the Kamm Tail style with a sharp vertical break. This solution not only references the Le Mans racing cars of the 1960s, but also effectively reduces the drag coefficient by cutting off turbulent flows. The huge radiator grille at the front is not a fashion statement, but a necessity: the engine requires 50% more cooling than the DBS engine. The interior has finally shed its archaic heritage and found its own identity. Analog luxury reigns supreme here: the physical metal switches and rotors on the center console have a calibrated feel and are pleasantly cool to the touch. The interior is trimmed with Bridge of Weir leather and Alcantara of the highest quality, and the seams are finished with jeweler's precision. The multimedia system is Aston Martin's own design, fast and concise, it does not distract from driving, but complements it. The seating position is low and sporty, but the seats are profiled so that after three hours behind the wheel, you will feel refreshed and ready for a business meeting or dinner. This is a space where the smell of expensive leather mixes with a feeling of absolute security and superiority.
